Job Description: The City of Chilliwack takes great pride in its focus on providing excellent service to its citizens and we are looking for like-minded persons to join our team. In this exciting role in Development and Regulatory Enforcement Services, you will assist management to achieve an efficient operation in the Bylaw Enforcement Section of the Department through reliable performance of inspectional, regulatory and clerical duties, observing and complying with municipal policies and ensuring the safety and security of confidential material pertaining to the Department???s operations.
Duties: You will provide assistance for all facets of enforcement of bylaws and regulations, receiving and processing complaints and conferring with other departments and agencies; receiving and processing business and trade licence applications; performing field inspections for bylaw infractions and for businesses to ensure they are properly licensed and operated in accordance with bylaws and regulations; investigating applicants for licences; issuing licences and commercial vehicle plates; interpreting regulations and bylaws to the general public. You will be responsible for clerical duties; maintaining records and files, preparing correspondence, handling simple accounts and other related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements: You have post-secondary education in Criminology or Bylaw Enforcement training through the Justice Institute Program, or a recognized equivalent, as well as a working knowledge of inspectional and investigative work.

Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver???s Licence.
Skill Requirements: You are able to follow the bylaws, statutes, ordinances and regulations related to the municipality; enforce applicable bylaws and regulations effectively and with impartiality and sound judgement; and, able to prepare and present evidence in court.

Salary: The hourly rate is $30.06 to $35.36 and we offer a great work environment that prides itself on employee satisfaction.
Additional Information: The successful candidate must also be physically fit as this position includes active, biking and walking, patrols. You will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays, in all weather conditions. The duration of this position can last up to one year, or shorter, based on operational needs.
