The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular part-time Recreation Cashier to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division, Recreation Programs and Services Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Business Support, you will be responsible in this unionized position for receiving payments for admissions and other prescribed fees, processing registrations and payments for recreation programs, accepting facility bookings; balancing receipts to point of sale system totals and preparing end of shift cash reports and bank deposits. You will provide factual information to the public regarding program activities and program registration by telephone and at the counter, maintaining routine records and statistics relating to the work performed; sorting and filing a variety of material and performing routine word processing tasks, as assigned.

Your education will include completion of the 11th school grade and preferably some cashiering experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Good working knowledge of program activities and registration, of modern office practices and procedures, ability to perform cashiering duties accurately and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public in providing factual information and assistance regarding activities and programs is essential. Previous experience working in a Recreation Centre and knowledge of the registration software used by Recreation, Culture, and Parks would be considered an asset.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $21.24 - $24.81 per hour (5 steps; 2018 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Tuesday and Wednesday 2:30pm ??? 8:30pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 4:15pm ??? 10:15pm; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
