SCOPE
The Surrey Nature Centre (operated by the City of Surrey???s Urban Forestry section) offers nature-based programs and events for schools and the public with the goal of increasing awareness, appreciation and stewardship of Surrey???s urban forest. this auxiliary position is based on a predicted 35 hours work week (Monday to Friday) from June 11 - August 31, 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Summer Day Camp Leader at the Surrey Nature Centre you will:
???Deliver full-day, nature-themed day camps to children ages 6 ??? 9 years old;
???Maintains program areas and equipment;
???Follow City of Surrey Policy and Procedures;
???Provide day camp participants with an active, safe and stimulating environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will have:
???A creative and enthusiastic approach to their work and enjoy the chance to be a part of a strong team;
???Previous experience working with children;
???Strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the public;
???Experience working with children;
???Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental education and interpretation;
???Knowledge of local flora and fauna;
???Current Emergency First Aid (or acceptable equivalent);
???High 5 certification (or willingness to obtain).
Due to potential funding criteria, these positions may require that candidates be:
???Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
???Full-time post-secondary student returning to full-time studies in September 2018.
