||The City of Abbotsford has recently announced an exciting organizational and leadership change that will further enhance our customer service delivery and achieve Council's vision for the City. As part of this strategic direction, our Engineering Department is transitioning to a more customer service and process driven org-structure that incorporates an enhanced alignment of staff functions and duties with the vision for the City and the direction of the Official Community Plan. Within this org-structure we have created four new divisions that will plan, implement, operate, and maintain infrastructure and deliver on our customer service goals.
Now we are seeking individuals to join this realigned team, and bring their expertise, passion and strategy to our organization. If you are a forward thinking leader of tomorrow, we want to hear from you!
The Project Management Division of the Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is instrumental in delivery of all capital projects for the City, including leadership of Solid Waste and Environmental Services, Geomatics and Inspections/Permits in the City. This Division will lead the procurement strategy and delivery approach of each project in order to support infrastructure investment in the City and Council’s vision of the City “…to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley.” This division is viewed as a builder of not just infrastructure, but more so of a community that will attract and retain people to live, work and play in the City of Abbotsford.
We are seeking an integral member of our leadership team for the position of Senior Manager, Solid Waste and Environmental Services. Reporting to the Director, Project Management Office, the Senior Manager provides leadership to ensure current and long term cost effective and sustainable solid waste management and environmental services, including energy management, source control and meeting regulatory requirements. As the Manager, you have an ability to continually develop and optimize our solid waste management program in a multi-stakeholder environment; you see your work through an environmental lens, with our sewer and source control program, always seeking ways to maintain sustainable solid waste management practices and ensuring the City leads by example. You will make recommendations on multi-year capital plans, operating cost planning, environmental program, solid waste management, priorities, policies and bylaw changes.
As the Senior Manager, you are a strong leader, coach and mentor to a diverse team of engineers and operational staff who oversee Solid Waste and Environmental Services. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build credible and trusted relationships with your team and at all levels throughout the organization.
As the Senior Manager, you will have:
• a Diploma or Degree in Environmental Engineering Technology, Engineering or other related discipline;
• a Professional designation as an AScT, P.Eng. or otherwise in BC; and
• 7 years of progressive related experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
At the City of Abbotsford we work strongly to create a challenging yet rewarding environment for our employees to thrive. We offer ongoing personal and professional development opportunities, competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
Be part of the story. Join our team today and help build the City's future together.
