The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 2 temporary full-time (from approx. May 22, 2018 to August 31, 2018) Labourers to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Parks Operations Department. There may be an opportunity to continue in an auxiliary role until December 31, 2018.

Reporting to the Manager of Parks Operations, the successful applicant will have sound knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the various functional areas of utilities construction and utilities maintenance work. You must have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Exercising some independent judgment and initiative, you will be responsible for:

??? Performing a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the operation and maintenance of facilities. The work may include pressure washing, window cleaning, painting, moving and assembling furniture, minor construction and demolition, heavy lifting, facility cleaning other general duties.
??? Driving a pick-up truck to transport materials and tools to job sites.
??? Performing other related work as required.

Your education will include completion of Grade 10, some experience in construction and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Landscaping experience, ability to operate small power tools and hand equipment is considered an asset.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

??? BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $28.00 per hour (2018 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. the hours of work are various, depending upon parks workload, non-standard hours, and/or non-standard work week; including evening, weekends and statutory holidays, as required.
