SCOPE
We???re looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to help us put on award-winning special events in Surrey. As the Community Services Assistant 5, this role is responsible for carrying out a variety of organizational and administrative duties related to special events, volunteer activities, and supervision.
The successful candidate will be supporting the special events team with the planning, development, promotion and delivery of our major civic events, such as; Party for the Planet, Surrey Canada Day, Surrey Fusion Festival, Surrey Tree Lighting Festival and the Mayor???s Charity Ball.
Flexibility in the work schedule is required and may include evening or weekend commitments. The auxiliary position will provide approximately 20 hours per week and will require scheduling flexibility within the work week.

RESPONSIBILITIES
???Assisting in the coordination of all events.
???Updating necessary project documents such as budgets, tracking documents, contract renewals, corporate sponsorship, receiving and processing invoices.
???Preparing invoices.
???Coordinating services with departments.
???Attending and assisting the events.
???Other administrative tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS
???Completion of grade 12 supplemented by a degree/diploma in a discipline relevant to the specialty from a recognized post-secondary institution.
???2 years progressively responsible experience in area of specialty including supervision.
???Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR or acceptable equivalent.
???Valid BC Driver???s License.
???Effective and respectful communication skills.
???Demonstrated initiative, innovation, a positive attitude, strong public relations and the ability to create inclusive and welcoming environments are vital in this role.
???Ability to work effectively with others, build relationships with existing and new potential contractors and corporate partners.
???Ability to support new and existing community groups and apply creativity in developing unique programs tailored to the needs of the various major special events.
