SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Fire Chief, and as an integral member of the Fire Services leadership team, your primary responsibilities are to conduct research, analyze statistics, make recommendations and draft reports for review by Surrey Fire Management, City Management, City Council and others, with the goal of enhancing fire safety and public health in the City of Surrey. You will identify and analyze emerging fire safety issues and their implications, including identification of populations and neighborhoods at increased risk of fire and fire-related injury and death, and help the Fire Service in establishing value-adding metrics and risk indicators.

RESPONSIBLITIES
You will have the additional challenge of collecting, computerizing, mapping and disseminating fire and fire-risk statistics for the purposes of operations, education, training, communication and fire prevention. Your statistical reports will be insightful and timely, and you may be required to present your conclusions in a variety of forums. Your work will make a difference in building safer and healthier communities within the City, the region and more broadly.

QUALIFICATIONS
If you have a graduate degree in applied social science, economics, or population/public health, with strengths in quantitative research techniques and applied statistics, along with 5-7 years of relevant applied research/analysis experience, this may be the role for you. The successful candidate, will have achieved a strong academic standing, in addition to having a demonstrated ability to work in a team based, fast paced, service focused work environment. You must have excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work well with a variety complex stakeholders.
