Job Description: The City of Surrey???s Urban Forestry Stewardship team plays an integral role in caring for Surrey???s natural environments to meet the needs of our growing communities.

As part of our efforts to build capacity within our communities to care for nature, we are looking for an innovative and collaborative individual to be our next Stewardship Programs Coordinator. This role will build relationships with the community and deliver programs and initiatives that make Surrey a healthier and more beautiful place for all.
Duties: Work with community members and organizations in an effort to increase their capacity to understand and care for nature.

Establish, build and maintain relationships with community members, schools, groups and organizations with the purpose of encouraging community involvement in the maintenance of Surrey???s street trees and natural areas.

Plan, organize and execute a variety of programs and events, including Releaf community tree plantings and Nature Work Parties.

Market and promote park programs and events.

Work closely with City staff and volunteers to help promote natural area management.

Assist with the submission of grant applications.

Lead junior staff and volunteers.
Educational Requirements: Possess a strong foundation and experience in environmental education, volunteer coordination, partnership development, and community engagement initiatives.

Positive team player who can facilitate conversations with diverse groups, and bring ideas to life that meet the needs of the community. You enjoy the variety of being in an office and being in the field.

Possess organizational, detail-orientaion, and a great communication skills.

Flexible with your daily schedule and can accommodate working evenings and weekends when necessary.
Skill Requirements: Graduation from a recognized university or college level program in a related discipline.

A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the delivery of environmental education and community development initiatives.
