Job Description: Surrey has bold plans for its parks system and requires a talented Parks Designer to make those plans a reality. The City???s new Ten Year Strategic Plan for Parks, Recreation and Culture identifies over $350 Million in new projects. The Parks Designer will be integral to delivering the Parks projects from initiation to ribbon cutting.
You will be part of a talented Parks Planning and Design team in one of Canada???s fastest growing communities. There will be a wide range of projects including:
??? New parks in new and urbanizing neighbourhoods.
??? Riverfront park systems achieving the City???s goals of protecting and enhancing biodiversity and connectivity.
??? Park renovations to major destination parks with expanded amenities such as field houses, water parks, artificial turf fields, and playgrounds.
??? Streetscape and urban design of the public realm in a rapidly urbanizing community.
Duties: Work independently and be responsible for obtaining site analysis information such as survey and geotechnical assessments.

???Develop and implement communication strategies with stakeholders and the public for projects.
???Develop the conceptual and detailed designs for park projects.
???Oversee the design team comprised of consultants and staff.
???Work closely with the City???s Park Development team to bring the projects to reality.
Educational Requirements: Surrey provides excellent opportunities for professional growth and the minimum requirements for this position are:

??? A Bachelor Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field
??? Supplemented with five years of experience in drafting and design or an equivalent combination of training and experience
??? Membership or eligibility to register as a member with the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects
Skill Requirements: Surrey provides excellent opportunities for professional growth and the minimum requirements for this position are:

??? Demonstrate excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
??? Proficient in ACAD as well as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
??? Other design program experience is an asset.
