The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for 1 regular full-time Equipment Operators V - Excavator to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Engineering and Construction Services. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for operating a tracked excavator weighing over 10 tons in an effective, efficient and safe manner to municipal standards, as well as perform other related work as required. You may be required to perform minor supervisory duties and to assist one or more subordinates performing various duties related to the operation of equipment. You will plan work prior to operation of equipment and maintain records and write reports related to the work. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the methods and practices used in the safe operation of equipment and of the procedures used in servicing and minor maintenance. Your education will include completion of Grade 10 along with considerable and related training and experience in the operation of diesel and gasoline operated equipment. You will have the ability to effectively understand oral and written instructions, simple sketches, plans and worksheets and skill in operating equipment in an effective, efficient and safe manner. A valid Class 5 BC driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required.
