Are you ready to dive into a new opportunity? Get your feet wet and splash into a new career as an Aquatics Leader with the City of Abbotsford! This position is full-time on a temporary basis until return of incumbent.
In this exciting role you will assist with planning, organizing and promoting Abbotsford’s aquatic programs as well as supporting the operation of daily programs, activities and maintenance. Your aquatic knowledge and supervisory experience will help you lead our group employees engaged in lifeguarding and instructional work. Your ability to empower and train these employees will ensure that high quality customer service is maintained.
As the Aquatic Leader you will also assist in the development and delivery of employee aquatic training by identifying needs, preparing presentations and delivering training. You will conduct orientation and in-service training sessions while maintaining and ensuring that the standards of performance and safety for Guard Instructors are met.
To be considered for this position you must have:
• completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in recreation or leisure studies;
• a minimum two years’ of guarding and instructing in an aquatic environment, including one year supervisory experience;
• experience operating word processing, spreadsheet and database computer software programs;
• CPR level C
• National Lifeguard Service Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer;
• National Lifeguard – Water Park;
• Pool Operator – Level 1;
• Lifesaving Instructor; and
• First Aid Instructor preferred.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $26.51 to $31.20 per hour plus a percentage in lieu of vacation, statutory holiday and health benefits.
