SCOPE The City of Surrey???s Park Operations is looking for a Community Services Assistant 2 to assist with garden openings, school workshops, and park events. The successful candidate will have a passion for community work, strong verbal communication skills, and excellent customer service skills and be able to work independently in an outdoor setting. EMPLOYMENT STATUS Union - CUPE Local 402 - Auxiliary RESPONSIBILITIES ???Host garden openings at Darts Hill Garden Park. ???Facilitate ???Lend-a-Hand??? classroom workshops for school children. ???Assist at a variety of park programs and community events. This position requires some physical work such as event set-up and take-down, and working outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions. QUALIFICATIONS ???Completion of Grade 12. ???One year of relevant experience in community service work or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience. ???Occupational First Aid Level One, or acceptable equivalent. ???Valid Class 5 Driver???s License with a safe driving history. ???Must be available for a variety of shifts, including evening and weekend shifts. ???Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience. High Five and Fundamental Movement Skills (or other Physical Literacy) certification will be considered an asset.
