The City of Abbotsford is currently looking for a talented person to fill one of the key positions in our Transportation team as a Transportation Technologist II, reporting to the Senior Transportation Manager.

In this exciting full-time role within our Engineering and Regional Utilities Department we are looking for a self-motivated professional with proven skills, energy and attention to detail. This skilled position requires a high degree of technical knowledge relating to current standards in design, construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.

Your strong interpersonal and public relations skills will allow you to effectively interact with the public in order to answer traffic-related questions, respond to complaints and requests, or to discuss traffic control ordinances, plans, policies, and procedures.

You will provide support in the delivery of the City???s Transportation and Transit Master Plan while using your critical thinking skills on issues facing transportation infrastructure along with preparing drawings of proposed traffic control devices in accordance to Transportation Association of Canada guidelines. This position will allow you to be involved in the development of the City???s Active Transportation Corridors, including solutions for bicyclists and pedestrian facilities and assist in the continued development of ???Safe Routes to School??? in collaboration with the School District, ICBC, and the Abbotsford Police Department.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

??? Completion of Grade 12;
??? Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent related diploma;
??? Five (5) years municipal design and field experience in the area of Transportation;
??? Eligibility for membership in ASTTBC;
??? Valid BC Driver???s Licence.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $37.03 to $43.54 plus a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
