The City of Abbotsford???s Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working individual to participate in a full-time skill development program designed to prepare them to become a Water Utility Person. A Water Utility Person is responsible for the day to day operation of the City???s water systems including the repair, maintenance and construction of waterworks infrastructure. The position requires a considerable knowledge of waterworks distribution systems, including mechanical and control systems required to operate and maintain water pumping and storage facilities.

The successful candidate entering the Water Utility Person-Development Program will be required to complete the entire program to the final level; a maximum of 12 months.

During the course of the Water Utility Person Development Program, candidates will not be eligible
to apply to other positions in the City of Abbotsford. They must complete the Water Utility Person - Development Program, as well as 12 months in the end level (Water Utility Person) position.

To be eligible to take advantage of this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

??? Grade 12 or equivalent
??? Eligible for Environmental Operator???s Certification Program OIT Certification by having:
o Three (3) months experience (minimum 500 hours) at a Class 1 or higher facility/system
or
o Completion of 90 hours (9.0 CEUs) in an approved basic operator training course.
??? Ability to obtain Class 3 B.C. Driver???s Licence by completion of development program.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $24.98-$29.40.
