We are seeking a strategic leader to join our progressive and passionate team as Director, Parks and Facilities. Reporting directly to the General Manager, Parks, Recreation and Culture, the Director is responsible for the planning and development of beautiful parks and trails that complete and connect City neighbourhoods. The City is in the process of creating its Urban Forestry strategy, and as the Director you will lead this process to create a beautiful, green and sustainable City that will position us as a leader in Canada. The City’s residents love their parks, trails and recreation facilities and developing a clear vision to guide the operations and maintenance of these is an exciting part of this role. As the Director, you are a seasoned leader, with the ability to motivate, mentor, coach and influence a diverse team to create a high performance work environment. You have the ability to build consensus on challenging issues and develop rich partnerships. You thrive managing many different priorities concurrently, and possess the ability to move projects forward in a multi-stakeholder environment. Your strong planning, communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build credible and trusted relationships at all levels throughout the organization and the community.
As the Director, you will have:
• a Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Parks Management, Urban Planning or other related discipline; and
• 10 years of progressive related experience, with a minimum of five (5) years in a senior leadership role.
