Job Description: We are the third largest regional district in BC by population, delivering over 100 services to six municipalities and eight electoral areas. Our region covers more than 13,000 km2 stretching from the City of Abbotsford to Boston Bar. The FVRD is one of the fastest growing regional districts in British Columbia and accommodating the region’s anticipated growth over the next 30 years will offer both opportunities and challenges.

We are looking for an energetic student to fill the time-duration position of Student I (Strategic Planning & Initiatives). The term of this position will be from May 6, 2019 to August 30, 2019, and the hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch.
Duties: The student will assist staff with the Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Strategy; the Regional Growth Strategy engagement; assist with creating Census release reports; create a summary report of Clean Economy study findings; and assist with transit marketing outreach.

Educational Requirements: Candidates must be: (i) currently attending or enrolled in the next semester of a secondary or post-secondary educational program, full or part-time; or (ii) have attended full or part-time, in the last academic year.
Skill Requirements: The ideal candidate must have a minimum of one year relevant post-secondary education; the ability to read, interpret and prepare maps; the ability to demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication skills; excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, and have sound knowledge of GIS, and the ability to acquire a sound knowledge of graphics and desktop publishing software.
Salary: The wage rate for this position will be $17.47 per hour ($15.80 plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits).
