Depending on your qualifications, you could fill the positions of Building Plans Reviewer/Permit Coordinator; Building Inspector/Plan Checker; Building Inspector; and Building Inspector II/Facilities Coordinator. Duties: A typical week at the FVRD, depending on your position, could see you helping residents start the building process by reviewing plans and drawings; providing residents with information on the steps required to get a building permit; providing technical advice and information to assist developers; builders; governmental agencies and the public on construction requirements; reviewing building plans and permits; issuing building permits; performing on site building inspections; working with our bylaw enforcement staff to issue violation tickets; working with the Planning Department on various files; coordinating maintenance and repairs of our FVRD Chilliwack and Deroche offices; facilitating, reviewing and updating building bylaws and procedures; and preparing reports for our senior management staff. Educational Requirements: The ideal candidates will be a qualified Level One to a certified Level Three from the Building Officials Association of British Columbia; have experience in building inspection and working in the construction industry; and have sound knowledge of the B.C. Building Code and other related bylaws, acts, standards and regulations pertaining to the construction industry, and preferably, up-to-date knowledge of the decisions of the Building Code Appeal Board. Salary: The wage range for these positions is provided below. These positions are subject to a six month probationary period. After successful completion of the probationary period, the candidate(s) will move to the Job Rate for the position. All positions come with a comprehensive benefits package.
