The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Planner II to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division; Development Planning Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Development Planning, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assuming a broad range of duties in the area of development planning including processing rezoning, subdivision, development permit, ALR and other permits and applications. You will be responsible for preparing reports to Council in support of community development objectives, ensuring recommendations are consistent with Municipal policies, plans, bylaws and specifications. Interpretation of bylaws, policies and guidelines will be an important component of this role. This position offers the opportunity to provide direct customer service, advice and interpretation and to research and write complex reports.

Your education will include university graduation in an appropriate discipline, plus a post graduate degree in Community or Regional Planning or other related area, supplemented by 5 years professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You should have thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of urban and rural planning; and considerable knowledge of the trends, policies, rules, regulations, bylaws, and legislation governing planning operations. Considerable knowledge and expertise in land development economics, urban design, and community engagement techniques would be a definite asset. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role along with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and visual presentations.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $46.75 - $55.35 per hour (5 steps 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
