The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Clerk Typist II to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services ??? RCMP division, Clerical section.

Reporting to the Administrative Manager ??? Police Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for providing administrative support by responding to telephone queries from the public, data entry into RCMP software programs, compiling and typing statistical and narrative reports as well as typing routine correspondence. This position will appeal to a fast paced, detail-oriented, independent and well-organized individual with a superior clerical aptitude.

Your education will include completion of the grade 12, including or supplemented by courses in typing and standard commercial subjects. Some experience as a Clerk Typist I or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required and approximately one year in an RCMP environment will be preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of office practices and procedures; rules and regulations which govern departmental activities; ability to follow oral and written instructions; have excellent computer skills; typing speed of at least 45 wpm; and a sound knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role, as well as possessing problem solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for figures and details. Superior customer service is vital when you are dealing with staff and external agencies.

Enhanced Reliability Status required. (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $23.44 - $27.45 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates). The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:00pm.
