The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a Temporary Full-time (from approx. July 22, 2019 – to approx. July 24, 2020) - Technical Assistant to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division; Permit, Licence and Inspection Services Department.
Reporting to the Assistant Chief Inspector, and working day to day with the Building Energy Manager, in this unionized position you will be responsible to assist with the Township’s energy related programs such as the Green Building Rebate Program, Energy Step Code, as well as other green building initiatives to further community energy and GHG emissions reductions. The position will liaise with municipal staff by assisting in program administration, program marketing and communications, and developing and delivering training to external and internal stakeholders. You will have the ability to prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence and various other materials related to the work such as program incentives and labelling / benchmarking data. You will have the ability to deal effectively, and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
Your education will include completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline, work experience in a municipal government or private engineering department an asset, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of engineering or environmental sciences. Knowledge of current methodologies and design/construction practices in architecture, engineering, building envelope, energy modeling, and/or current building code requirements (BC Energy Step Code) will be considered an asset. You will have the ability to prioritize and schedule tasks to meet deadlines, compile and analyze statistics related to the work, skills in the use of computer equipment and related software required in the work.

• BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $26.36 - $30.98 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.
