Job Description: The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Bylaw Enforcement Officer (from approx. September 16, 2019 to approx. December 24, 2020) to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division, Bylaw Enforcement Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Bylaw Enforcement, you will be responsible in this unionized position for investigating and processing complaints concerning bylaw infractions and violations; enforcing regulations and bylaws related to issues such as parking, zoning, noise, abandoned property, untidy premises, signs; assisting other Township branches and departments in their enforcement of regulations and bylaws; gathering evidence and attending adjudication hearings as a witness when necessary; and explaining and interpreting bylaws and regulations to the public.

Your education includes completion of grade 12 and training in bylaw enforcement and sound experience in inspectional and enforcement work or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You must have sound knowledge of municipal bylaws, regulations and applicable provincial statutes as well as knowledge of court and adjudication procedures and legality of various types of evidence. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. Computer familiarity is required with proficiency to prepare routine reports and maintain records manually and/or using software applications.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust. The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $32.25 - $37.97 per hour (5 steps; 2019 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 7:30am ??? 4:30pm; Non-standard Hours and/or Non-standard Work Week/40 hours per week.
