Job Description: The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Payroll Accounting Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Human Resources Division.

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll Services, in this unionized position you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the municipal computerized payroll system and that established municipal accounting procedures are observed and maintained. In this role, you will ensure reports such as T4 and T4A summaries and superannuation reports are reconciled to payroll records, and remittances and deductions are in accordance with statutory regulations. The successful candidate will reconcile accounts payable and receivable statements, verify and correct pensionable/insurable earnings, and assist with preparing pension plan remittances and forms. You will coordinate claims with respect to WorkSafeBC, gather salary and benefit data, maintain and update benefits, and respond to questions regarding reconciliation and remittances of payroll specific data. The Payroll Accounting Clerk will assist with payroll year-end, including working papers and the preparation of the annual Statement of Financial Information.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by successful completion of two years of a recognized professional accounting program or diploma in business administration and some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have considerable knowledge of policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to Municipal payroll and accounting operations including bookkeeping methods and procedures and of financial and fund accounting. Experience in preparing and maintaining a wide variety of statistical records, fiscal reports and statements related to the work and make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy is required for this role. The ability to interpret, apply and explain a variety of policy regulations, laws and procedures and agreement provisions applicable to payroll and accounting. The use of computerized software applications and the ability to maintain complex records and prepare related reports and statements is integral to this role.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $32.35 ??? $37.97 per hour (2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday ??? Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
