The City of Abbotsford???s Legal Services division is seeking a self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team as a Legal Assistant.

In this fast paced, deadline oriented role, you will bring considerable knowledge of procedures and legal terminology governing the City???s exercise of governmental and natural person powers, including land titles registrations, the Community Charter and the Local Government Act. Responsibilities include reviewing contracts, leases and other legal documents for completion and accuracy prior to execution by senior staff; processing registrations and statutory declarations; obtaining and reviewing insurance records.

As the Legal Assistant, you will provide support in the preparing, reviewing and distributing a variety of legal documents required to facilitate legal transactions for the City. You will also provide support to in-house legal counsel including scheduling, managing due dates, triaging requests for legal support, and document preparation and assembly. Your organization, prioritization and time management skills will make you an asset to the team.

Qualifications Required:
??? Completion of a two-year diploma in Legal Assistant or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution,
??? Three years??? experience processing legal documentation, preferably in a municipal setting,
??? Valid Class 5 BC Driver???s Licence.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.61 to $36.01.
