The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 2 temporary full-time (from approx. January 13, 2020 to approx. December 24, 2020) Utilities Maintenance Workers to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Engineering and Construction Services Department. Reporting to the Construction Manager, in this unionized position you will be responsible for exercising independent judgment and initiative, ensuring safe work practices. You will assist in water works construction, maintenance and repair tasks including connection installation. You will utilize a variety of equipment and repair processes such as an M-Scope to locate utilities and air compressors. This position will operate a laser level and video inspection camera as required. The successful candidate will guide equipment operators, drive a work truck and perform related work as required. Your education will include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by training courses and experience in utility construction and maintenance tasks or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You have sound knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the various functional areas of utilities construction and utilities maintenance work. This position requires the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions which may be accompanied by sketches or plans and the successful candidate will have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination in order to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.
