The City of Abbotsford currently has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Park Planner in the Park Services Division of our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. The Park Planner is a professional whose work will involve the short and long term planning and development of parks and other greenspaces in our great community. This will include developing conceptual plans, preparing contract documents, overseeing consultants as well as coordinating the construction phase of development projects. The Parks Planner will be responsible to prepare, review and assess long term planning proposals, make recommendations on the use of consultants, conduct public engagement and information meetings, conduct research and make recommendations on parkland development and planning issues. The successful candidate will update and monitor the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan and ensure that requirements are being met. Qualifications Required: ??? Bachelors??? Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning or related discipline from a recognized educational institution; ??? Minimum of five years??? work experience in planning, design and development of parks, open space and landscape projects; ??? Registration with the BC Society of Landscape Architects or membership as an Intern with commitment to become registered in agreed upon timeframe; ??? Class 5 Drivers??? Licence; This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $41.66 to $48.98.
