The City of Abbotsford currently has an exciting Full-time opportunity for an Emergency Advisor in the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service Department.

As the Emergency Advisor you will assist the Assistant Fire Chief ??? Emergency Planning, to develop and administer the City???s Emergency Program as well as assist in overseeing and supporting public safety lifeline volunteer groups (Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue Society, Emergency Support Services and the Abbotsford Emergency Communications Services) and ensure up-to-date equipment and supplies are provided to ensure a high degree of service and professionalism.
You will be required to exercise considerable independence of action and judgement in most aspects of the work including setting priorities to meet multiple deadlines, referring unusual, complex or sensitive situations to the supervisor ??? Assistant Fire Chief, Emergency Planning

Your excellent communication skills including the ability to work effectively as a team member to promote positive, constructive working relationships in a customer-centered environment will assist in your success in the role.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

??? Completion of Grade 12;
??? Certificate in Emergency Management (or currently active in program);
??? BC Provincial Emergency Social Services Director course;
??? Volunteer Management Certificate or proven experience coordinating, recruiting and recognition of volunteers;
??? Two (2) years experience in applied emergency management, preferably in a local Government setting.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $33.26 to $39.13
