As the Recreation Coordinator you will have the opportunity to coordinate the planning, development, implementation and administration of comprehensive community recreation programs. Under general direction, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for researching, designing, implementing, coordinating, administering and evaluating one or more segments of an approved recreation program, and for program activity, event and service planning and community development.

You will supervise program and facility staff, establish and maintain liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts, promote and publicize interest and participation in program activities, and develop and monitor program budgets. You will exercise considerable initiative and independence of judgement and action within the limits of established policies, procedures and guidelines.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

??? Completion of a post-secondary degree in Recreation & Leisure Service Management or Business Administration supplemented with a minimum of two courses in public recreation program management/development.
??? Three years of experience in public recreation program development with exposure to a variety of focus areas including one year of related supervisory experience.
??? Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence.

This opportunity is Aquatics specific and the successful candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends. A minimum of two evening shifts (12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) weekly will be required.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.74 to $36.14.
