Job Description: The City of Abbotsford has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources leader to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager provides leadership to a hardworking, dedicated and engaged team of professionals who pride themselves on delivering exceptional service in recruitment, job evaluation, compensation, training and development, labour relations, employee relations, disability management, recognition, benefits and HR administration services to the City. This position acts as the lead for the City???s Recognition Collective and supports the Employee Wellness Collective.

This is a critical role within the division responsible for leading the HR advisory services team, evolving our processes and developing programs that enhance the level of HR services provided to the City. This position also informs HR/LR strategy
Duties: In this role, you will require broad generalist expertise in the full range of employment matters; in addition to labour relations expertise to support negotiations, grievance processes, investigations, research, policy development and interpretation of collective agreements and relevant legislation.

We are looking for a self-motivated and seasoned HR generalist who has experience leading a team. Someone who takes their work seriously but not themselves, contributing to a lighthearted team environment. As the Manager, you will have a proven record of establishing strong, credible relationships throughout all levels of the organization by leading and promoting innovative, dynamic solutions to people-related matters. You will work in collaboration with department managers, employees and union representatives to provide operational, tactical and strategic HR support to the various departments across the City.
Educational Requirements: You will have a degree in human resources, labour relations, business administration, law, or public administration complemented by a minimum of 5 -7 years??? experience in progressive HR generalist roles within a unionized environment, a focus on labour relations is an asset. You will also have at least 2 ??? 3 years??? experience in a leadership role. A CPHR designation and municipal experience is also an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of HCM/HRIS Systems and on-line Applicant Tracking Systems is required.
