The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Project Engineer (Junior) (from approx. July 26, 2021 to July 28, 2023) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Transportation Department. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, in this exempt position you will under the general direction of the Manager assist in the overall management of capital projects and studies as relates to transportation engineering. You will assist the Township in the planning and design for all for all modes of transportation. You will also undertake transportation planning including the development of a Strategic Transportation Plan. This plan will include addressing access and mobility, transportation choices, affordability, community and environmental issues and supports the Township Township???s Climate Action Strategy (CAS). Working with other departments, municipalities and government agencies, citizen groups and the public, this position requires a high level of leadership, and innovation.

Your education will include a Degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution with a minimum of 1 year work related experience and progressively more experience with responsible project management. Designation as an Engineer in Training or eligibility or membership as a registered Professional Engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC is required. With strong interpersonal skills, you are enthusiastic, well organized and able to communicate effectively with internal contacts, the community, consultants and contractors. You have extensive computer familiarity with proficiency in spreadsheets, knowledge of institutional processes and preferably some experience working in a municipal environment. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate leadership and the ability to interpret the policies, standards and design criteria as they affect specific projects.

In order to be considered for this position, you must have a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) Driver???s License or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5 year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date of this competition. The Personal Driving Record must be uploaded with your application and in order for your application to be complete.
