The City of Abbotsford???s Parks Operations division is seeking an experience, self-motivated individual to join their dynamic team as the newest Parks Building and Structures Technician. This position is full-time on a temporary basis until return of incumbent.

Abbotsford???s Parks, Recreation and Culture department provides key services to the residents of our rapidly growing community. As the Parks Building and Structures Technician you will provide support to the Parks Operations division in skilled maintenance work in the use of mechanical and hand tools for routine maintenance and repair of the City???s Parks and Recreation facilities, buildings, structures, equipment, playgrounds, and parks.

In this role you will bring considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in building and park maintenance and repair. You will direct and assist employees in performing a variety of building and parks maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, roofing and concrete-finishing work. Having basic knowledge of the building codes and other regulations pertaining to construction, maintenance and repair work along with sound judgement and leadership skills will make you an asset to the team.

Qualifications Required:
??? Completion of Grade 12
??? Completion of Level 1 technical training or education equivalent in a building or mechanical trade from a recognized trades program, post-secondary institution or construction association.
??? Three years??? recent and related experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of infrastructure assets.
??? Completion of a Supervisory Skills training course or equivalent experience.
??? Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence
??? Canadian Playground Safety Inspection Certification.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $27.58 to $32.46
