The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Project Engineer (Junior) (from approx. August 16, 2021 to July 30, 2023) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Facilities Planning and Construction Department. Reporting to the Project Engineer, Facilities Planning and Construction, in this exempt position you will be accountable for managing a variety of capital replacement and construction projects at Municipal Facilities and Properties. The successful candidate will oversee the management of various projects in the Facilities Planning & Construction portfolio, prepare cost estimates, develop Tender and RFP documents, maintain effective liaison with consultants/Contractors working on projects, and assist in budget preparation.

Your education will include a bachelor???s degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution. Candidates should have a minimum 3 years work related experience in project management of capital construction projects. This experience must be in buildings/facilities (Municipal, institutional, or commercial buildings). Designation as an Engineer in Training or eligibility or membership as a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. Eligibility or membership as an Intern Architect or Architect with the Architectural Institute of BC (AIBC) is considered an asset. With strong interpersonal skills, you are enthusiastic, well organized, and able to communicate effectively with internal contacts, the community, consultants, and contractors. You have extensive computer familiarity with proficiency in spreadsheets, knowledge of institutional processes and preferably some experience working in a municipal environment. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate leadership and the ability to interpret the policies, standards, and design criteria as they affect specific projects.
