As a Daycare Attendant at the FVRD, you would be working in our after-school daycare program from 2:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., Monday to Friday. However, our Daycare Attendants could also be involved in activities on Professional Days, winter, spring and summer day camps. A typical week could see you participating in activities with children such as themed arts and crafts days, coloring, puzzles and games. The kids are also required to have outside playtime which could include free time to play on the playground, going for a hike, visiting the community garden, or organized group games that are age appropriate such as tag or ???Simon Says.??? Educational Requirements: ??? Completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety , or nutrition; ??? Valid First Aid Certificate in Child Care and CPR; ??? Excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively deal with children; ??? Must be at least 19 years of age; and ??? A valid Driver???s License is preferred. Skill Requirements: The successful candidate must also pass a Police Security Check, as well as a Criminal Records Check under the Criminal Records Review Act and meet the governing Licensing Officer???s approval to supervise children in a Licensed Daycare. Salary: The start rate for this part-time Union position is $17.45 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits, and upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $19.39 per hour plus either 10.6% in lieu of benefits, or if eligible, participation in the benefit program. The Daycare Attendant must be available for shifts from up to four (4) hours to eight (8) hours inclusive of evenings, weekends and some holidays.
