From skating to swimming, to recreation programs and more, our rec centre provides a wide range of recreation services and programs to residents of Hope and FVRD Electoral Areas A and B. Come join our dedicated, fun-loving team and learn new skills, gain valuable job experience all while exploring the exciting field of recreation. As a Recreation Assistant, a typical week could see you participating in activities with children such as helping with a birthday party; jumping into a pool-based activity; lacing on a pair of ice skates; playing games such as Red Rover, China Wall, Tag and Battleship and working on puzzles. On a nice day, you might venture outside to kick around the soccer ball or visit the community garden. In this position, you could also lead drop-in sports activities for teenagers and adults. We are looking for a person who genuinely enjoys interacting and participating with children, and engaging with them to provide an experience that is fun. Must possess C.P.R. Level ???C??? Emergency First Aid Certification and be knowledgeable in standard first aid techniques; ??? Must have good communication and public relations skills, with the ability to effectively deal with children who exhibit challenging behavior, and to use tact and courtesy in dealing with customers; ??? Must pass a Criminal Record Check. ??? The preferred candidates will also possess a Bronze Cross certification in swimming Salary: The start rate for this part-time Union position is $15.20 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits, and upon successful completion of the required probationary period, if eligible, participation in the benefit program. The Recreation Assistant must be available for shifts from up to four (4) hours to eight (8) hours inclusive of evenings, weekends and some holidays.
