Duties: The Community Services Assistant 5 - Youth Engagement Assistant will play an integral leadership role in developing programs and services that will ensure our young people are engaged and connected in our community. Working with internal and external partners, our Youth Engagement Assistant will be responsible for carrying out a variety of organizational and administrative duties related to the planning, development, promotion, and delivery of youth programs and services.
The Youth Engagement Assistant will be:
??? Engaging youth through the lens of Positive Youth Development in alignment with Recreation Surrey???s philosophies.
??? Planning, scheduling, evaluating, and providing feedback on a wide range of programs and services.
??? Researching and developing new program ideas.
??? Supervising, training, and supporting staff and volunteers in a variety of functions.
??? Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with local community members, organizations, and other City staff.
??? Assisting in researching, developing, and writing grant applications.
??? Supporting the marketing and promotion of programs and services.
??? Providing premium customer service and handling questions, concerns, and complaints.
??? Ensuring that the City???s policies and procedures are met during the performance of ongoing duties.
??? Providing information to the public regarding programs and facilities in a courteous and professional manner.
??? Evaluating, measuring and reporting on the success of programs.
??? Performing other administrative duties as required.
Educational Requirements: The successful applicant must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills as well as the ability to multitask and adopt an innovative approach. They must also meet the following minimum qualifications:
??? Graduated from a recognized university or college level program.
??? 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the delivery of youth recreation and supervisory experience.
??? Certified in Emergency First Aid & CPR C or willing to obtain.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
