The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 2 temporary full-time Technical Assistants (from approx. November 15, 2021 to November 10, 2022) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Sustainability Department. The responsibilities for both positions are similar with one maintaining a focus in waste management and recycling and the other in energy conservation and climate change. Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability in this unionized position you will perform technical work related to the development and implementation of programs, policies and initiatives in support of sustainability and climate change and planning for an energy efficient community.

Responsibilities:
??? Assist in collecting and analyzing data in support of waste management and/or energy and climate change
??? Research related technologies and behavior change strategies related to sustainability
??? Assist with developing communications materials, public outreach and education programs
??? Prepare and delivers reports and presentations
??? Perform other related work as required

Qualifications:
??? Completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline; work experience in a municipal government or private engineering department an asset; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
??? Working knowledge of earth science, engineering, GIS or economics terminology, materials, equipment, practices and techniques
??? Ability to prioritize, schedule tasks and meet deadlines
??? Ability to communicate effectively with internal/external contacts and other agencies
??? Experience working in sustainability, energy and climate change is considered an asset

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $26.89 - $31.60 per hour (2020 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
