The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Cultural Services Manager to join our team of professionals in the Arts, Culture and Community Initiatives Division. The Township is anticipating the opening of a new Class ???A??? 38,000 square foot Arts, Culture and Heritage Centre, Salishan Place by the River in 2023, and this position will provide leadership and direction to a team that is currently located at the Langley Centennial Museum.

Reporting to the Director of Arts, Culture and Community Initiatives, in this Exempt position you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the overall programming and operations at the current location of the Langley Centennial Museum, the (future) cultural centre and other similar amenities throughout the Township. The Cultural Services Manager works with community organizations and partners including the Langley Arts Council, Langley Heritage Society, the st??l????w?? Arts and Cultural Society, the q??ic????y?? (Katzie), q??????:n????????n?? (Kwantlen), M??thekwi (Matsqui), and se???mya???me (Semiahmoo) First Nations to champion arts, culture and heritage connections, ensuring that a full scope of programs, services and events are available in the community. Salishan Place by the River will include an Art Gallery, an Indigenous museum, a community museum, an archive, an Indigenous repository, a 170-seat presentation theatre, classrooms, a printmaking studio and a public library. This position requires an individual with a broad range of knowledge and experience.

The Cultural Services Manager ensures that facilities and programs are designed to meet the needs and interests of our community. This position acts as a municipal resource for community arts and cultural programs and will liaise and work in cooperation with various divisions, including Recreation to ensure a consistent and smooth delivery of leisure programs and services. The work entails considerable liaison with user groups, community organizations and the general public. You will have oversight of the Township???s library services agreement will participate with other staff in the coordination of the Township of Langley???s Public Art Program. You will supervise a staff of unionized and contract recreation and cultural workers with responsibility for the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation and discipline of all staff.

Your education will include university graduation with a degree in Fine Arts, History, Anthropology, Museum Studies, Cultural Resources Management or a related discipline, plus a minimum of 5-years sound managerial experience. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates, Serving it Right certification and a Fire Arms Possession/Acquisition License are required (may be obtained within 6 months of hire).

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a Police Information Check.
