Job Description: The City of Abbotsford???s Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working individual to participate in a full-time skill development program for a Utility Person in the Sewers division.

The successful candidate entering the Utility Person (Sewers) Development Program will be required to complete the program within 12 months of employment. You will not be eligible to apply for other positions within the City of Abbotsford for the first 12 months following completion of the development program.
Duties: In this position, you will participate in semi-skilled and manual work in the repair, maintenance and construction of sewers infrastructure.

An employee of this class works under the direction of a Sewers Works Supervisor or Tradesperson in establishing and carrying out repair, maintenance and construction duties in the sewers field. The incumbent will be required to maintain accurate records and inventories, and operate moderately large vehicles under varying traffic conditions. Performance is evaluated by a Sewer Works Supervisor or Tradesperson in terms of completion of scheduled assignments, adherence to safe work practices, technical expertise and effective performance of duties.
Educational Requirements: In order to be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

??? Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
??? 3 months experience (minimum 500 hours) at a Class 1 (or higher) facility/system. OR;
??? Completion of 90 hours (9.0 ceus???) in an approved basic operator training course.

Salary: This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $25.99 per hour to $30.59 per hour. In addition, the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
