The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Property and Lease Coordinator to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division, Property Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Property Administration and Conveyancing, in this unionized position you will prepare legal documentation related to negotiation, property management of residential and commercial leased properties and land transactions. This position requires considerable organization, initiative and attention to detail.

• Administer a portfolio of residential and commercial leased properties including screening and selecting tenants, negotiating terms, rates, renewals, use clauses and related matters within the established parameters
• Prepare and executes agreements, oversee the collection of rent and other fees as applicable, respond to tenant enquiries and respond to complaints/issues
• Draft non-standard agreements, review contracts, leases and other non-standard legal documents for completeness and accuracy prior to execution by senior staff
• Liaise with internal and external contacts related to the work performed; interprets and explains applicable policies, procedures, requirements, forms and regulations
• Draft contract language, non-standard clauses and new precedents related to development applications
• Prepare correspondence, legal agreements and draft reports and bylaws for Council related to lease administration for Township owned properties
• Perform related work as required

• Completion of a recognized legal assistant diploma program or a formal Property Management designation plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Thorough knowledge of procedures, forms, documents and legal terminology governing the conveyance of property and other rights and interest in lands, including Land Titles registrations
• Working knowledge of the role of other municipal departments as related to the work performed
• Ability to prepare, review and process a variety of legal documents related to municipal land matters and transactions
• Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate will be considered an asset

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $35.63 - $42.12 per hour (5 steps, 2020 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.
