Job Description: The City of Abbotsford’s Fleet Services division is currently seeking an experienced Red Seal Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic with a passion for customer service and teamwork to join our skilled team as a Trades II (Technician).
Duties: In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will perform general mechanical overhaul and maintenance work on a wide variety of Automotive and Heavy-Duty equipment such as road sweepers, backhoes, motors, graders, trucks and diesel and gas engines. You will utilize your knowledge of electronic diagnostic equipment for computerized systems to undertake preventative maintenance and inspection and prepare reports of condition and recommendations.

You will have good knowledge of fuel systems and superior mechanical aptitute as well as an appreciation for proper safety practices and procedures. Your strong communication and organization skills along with your ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment will make you an asset to the team.
Educational Requirements: As our ideal candidate you will have:

• Red Seal Trades Qualification in Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic;
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the trade;
• Valid Class 3 B.C. Driver’s Licence
• Valid Certificate for Commercial Vehicle Inspection Permits (BC)
Salary: This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $36.22 to $42.62.
